Devoted to Change
Have you joined the movement?
I've always had an interest in healthy living. From Vegetarianism to Ayurveda, I've tried it all.
Similarly, as it relates to cosmetics, I've tried it all over the years.
Mass – Prestige – Clinical – Couture
I can spend equally as many hours in Whole Foods as I can Sephora or Nordstrom.
Never have the two intersected, however. Never have I put as much effort into ingredients (or lack thereof) in my cosmetics as I have my food. That is, until now.
Enter the life of a green beauty babe. Tirelessly studying and comparing have become standard fare. The Complete Book of Essential Oils & Aromatherapy and the multitude of ways one can use the OCM (Oil Cleansing Method) ...Say What?
Where have I been? I've never even heard of some of these things before. And neither did I hear of what effects the use of some cosmetics can have on our skin.
Did you know…
The US has not passed a federal law to regulate the ingredients used in personal care products since 1938.
1 in 2 men and 1 in 3 women will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime. Most will have no genetic link to cancer.
The current generation of US children are likely to be sicker and die younger than their parents.
I consider myself pretty blessed when I look around at my friends and family and see that we are all happy and healthy. Then, I really think about how many times disease has struck those closest to me. 3 of my Aunts and my Mother-in Law have been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. My best friend and her sister have had Thyroid cancer. With one in three women expected to be diagnosed cancer in their lifetime, I know it's bound to strike again, and fearfully, close to home.
But there is something that I can do. Get safe products into the hands of everyone I know.
And it starts with me.
This portion of my blog will be dedicated to the green, the safe, the researched, and the transparent. Products that you can feel confident and inspired to use on you and your family.
Education that will not only inform, but enlighten.
As a beauty maven with budding beauties of my own, the tween scene is booming in my house. From my red lip fierce princess to my beautiful and goofy tomboy, the fact of the matter is they use product!
Here’s another statistic for the moms out there:
1 on 3 children will be diagnosed with autism, ADHD, allergies or asthma (the 4 A’s)
Unfortunately, I got the stats beat. 2 out of my 3 have one of the 4 A’s. And guess what… no genetic link.
I've been in beauty, what seems to be, my entire life and I'm still learning every day. It's shocking to think that “the movement” is just getting started and yet some still have no idea what's going on with our products.
Be informed. Be disruptive. Be inspired. Be beautiful.
